Course Overview

Modern Advanced Driver Assistance Systems rely on a complex combination of cameras, radar, ultrasonic sensors, LiDAR and vehicle control systems to monitor the driving environment and assist the driver.

ADAS Essentials provides technicians with a practical understanding of how these technologies operate, what each type of sensor is capable of detecting, and how the information they generate is used by the vehicle to identify objects and make driving-assistance decisions.

The course explores the purpose of ADAS, levels of vehicle automation, camera operation and object classification, radar technology, ultrasonic sensing, LiDAR and sensor fusion. Participants will also examine sensor detection ranges, fields of view and the environmental or vehicle-related factors that can influence system performance.

These fundamentals are then applied in a hands-on practical session using Autel ADAS calibration equipment, where participants will work through the setup and calibration process on ADAS-equipped vehicles.

By understanding both what ADAS sensors actually “see” and how correct calibration affects system operation, technicians will be better equipped to approach the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance and calibration of modern ADAS-equipped vehicles with greater confidence.
